Project initiated in 2011, in the cantons of Vaud and Valais (Switzerland).
It is broken down into two parts:
- The design of the attack detection system;
- The composition of the repellent; alarm pheromones, the choice of the discriminating stimulus.
This new tool, currently being designed, comes in the form of a collar to be worn permanently by several sheep in the flock, and is developed to detect a wolf attack on the flock and deploy a wolf specific repellent.
Once the device is positioned on the sheep, all out of the ordinary movements are detected by accelerators which will trigger, if necessary, the emission of a powerful repellent, very irritating to the predator but not lethal, coupled with synthesized alarm pheromones aimed at boosting the effect of the collar.

Addressing Human – Wildlife interaction issues often requires a combination of diverse initiatives. While many of these already exist, they are spread out across the globe in such a way that many remain unknown and not available to all.

It sounds like a promising approach, but the lack of information makes it difficult to understand. Please provide more details
